Using software program Mandelbulb3D, the artist Mark J. Brady (aka Mark Jay Bee) makes fractal landscapes that look like computerized storyboards from Ridley Scott movies— but the difference is that these vast digital settings are comprised of infinitely repeating patterns, bringing viewers into an inter-dimensional space that goes way beyond the 2D fractals we’re used to.

Jasper Heenan is a 16 year old high school student from Byron Bay, Australia. He has always loved making art. Around 2010 he began working on graphic design. He is self taught using programs like Photoshop, Cinema 4D and After Effects. In June, only two months ago, he began making GIFs. He had been making still images for a while but had become bored of them. He felt unsatisfied with what he was making because there wasn’t enough happening and wanted to show multiple versions of a piece of art without having to create many variants of it. His decision to move to GIFs was inspired by the works of Kidmograph and Beeple. You can find his work posted as jabbathekid.

Animations by Andy Thomas visualize birdsong samples into abstract sculptural forms
Australian artist Andy Thomas specializes in creating ‘audio life forms’: beautiful abstract shapes that react to sounds. In this animated short, he visualizes two recorded bird sounds from the archives of the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision [beeldengeluid.nl] in Hilversum.
